As much as I love ski-tuning from the boat during a set, I still use pylon video so I can review subtle details in slow motion. In fact, video is essential for optimal results. While ski-tuning in person makes the process quicker, video remains essential for optimal results.
This video-based session mimics the procedure I use while riding in the boat. When I’m in the boat, I watch a pass or two, then make adjustments on the swim grid without measuring anything. I don’t really care what the actual measurements are, I just change things to get the behavior I’m looking for. The only actual measuring I’ll do is back at the dock so the client has a record of where things worked best.
This Personalized Setup Feedback session works pretty much the same way. You send me a link to your YouTube video or email me a link to your video in your cloud then I review it as if riding in your boat. I’ll study your ski’s behavior and write you a brief description of what I see and how you can improve your setup—not with setup numbers, but with simple instructions that don’t require any special tools.
An example might be that I’ll recommend that you:
- move your bindings forward 1/4″
- turn the FL screw 1/3 turn clockwise,
- turn the FD screw 1/4 turn counter-clockwise, and
- turn the DFT screw 1/2 turn clockwise.
It won’t be an in-depth study with specific measurements, record keeping and in depth explanations like a full Stage II Analysis. But it will be quick, easy and effective. This setup guidance is everything most skiers need to enjoy fully personalized ski performance.
